Progress update

Today i want to talk about my progress with the game Dicey Element so far.

Good: ๐Ÿ”—

UI functionality is done and I’m working on UI visual design right now.

Most of the mechanics i wanted are already in, i need to add a couple interactions with elements and fix some annoying bugs.

Game is way better at showing the consequences of actions. (If you pick a 4 die with fire element and hover over wood you will see exactly what tiles of wood will be burned)

I added a way to change the font and one of them should be easier to read for dyslexic people.

I also changed the pallete to be more colorblind friendly, it’s nowhere near perfect, but it should help a lot.

Bad: ๐Ÿ”—

I still need to add around 20 levels and each level takes me around an hour to come up with. Yeah, that will take awhile.

Art is still mostly from the game jam version (most of it was drawn by my friend!) but i wanted to redraw it for release version.

Worst: ๐Ÿ”—

I don’t have any motivation to work on the game partially because of the badly written code.

My code is starting to show cracks, i had to scrap some of the mechanics because i couldn’t implement it without rewriting the entire game.

Despite this, I’m still working on the game but only 1-2 hours a day.

I’m still planning to release it, but it won’t be as good as i wanted it to be.

And that’s fine.
